okay so...just recently i ve been learning in school about the invisible children in Uganda. Is there a way to run a Perl script on incoming emails to create calendar events? My company uses its own internal calendar system that sends me emails everytime a new event/meeting is scheduled. I d like to be able to create a perl script or VB script that would "Read" the incoming emails- strip out the meeting info (date- time- locations- etc.) and then create a new calendar event. Sorry its not an anchor tag but an img tag with source set to a cgi script that picks random images from a directory.

I have access to cgi and perl on my server..however I can not execute any script to work!...They set the directory up to my cgi files to the directory of [cgi] should it not be [cgi-bin]? The cmods are set up correctly..tey also have a directory called fcgi..what is that?..what directory should I store my cgi files in?

I m in first year university for Computer Science- I learned programming in Turing in High school- since then I ve become familiar with C and Java- and I m wondering where to take it now. Should I go and learn Python and Ruby and Perl and get as may languages as I can under my belt? Should I go buy books and start reading? I ve kind of hit a dead end. Ideally I d like to start into networking and learn what there is to learn- but the resources I ve found are either introduction to programming with very simplistic stuff or advanced to the point where I can t even begin to understand what s going. Hello- I m new to the world of computer programming and i m starting off small by learning the code system "Perl" the problem is- i can t seem to get the Command window to access "C:\". It always opens up either as "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]>" or after circumventing the shortuct and going straight to the .exe in the system32 folder: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\". What is the code that is needed to have it read "C:\"? Thank You.

As an enlightened- modern parent- I try to be as involved as possible in the lives of my six children. I encourage them to join team sports. I attend their teen parties with them to ensure no drinking or alcohol is on the premises. I keep a fatherly eye on the CDs they listen to and the shows they watch- the company they keep and the books they read. You could say I m a model parent. My children have never failed to make me proud- and I can say without the slightest embellishment that I have the finest family in the USA.
Two years ago- my wife Carol and I decided that our children s education would not be complete without some grounding in modern computers. To this end- we bought our children a brand new Compaq to learn with. The kids had a lot of fun using the handful of application programs we d bought- such as Adobe s Photoshop and Microsoft s Word- and my wife and I were pleased that our gift was received so well. Our son Peter was most entranced by the device- and became quite a pro at surfing the net. When Peter began to spend whole days on the machine- I became concerned- but Carol advised me to calm down- and that it was only a passing phase. I was content to bow to her experience as a mother- until our youngest daughter- Cindy- charged into the living room one night to blurt out: "Peter is a computer hacker!"
As you can imagine- I was amazed. A computer hacker in my own house! I began to monitor my son s habits- to make certain that Cindy wasn t just telling stories- as she is prone to doing at times.

After a few days of investigation- and some research into computer hacking- I confronted Peter with the evidence. I m afraid to say- this was the only time I have ever been truly disappointed in one of my children. We raised them to be honest and to have integrity- and Peter betrayed the principles we tried to encourage in him- when he refused point blank to admit to his activities. His denials continued for hours- and in the end- I was left with no choice but to ban him from using the computer until he is old enough to be responsible for his actions.

After going through this ordeal with my own family- I was left pondering how I could best help others in similar situations. I d gained a lot of knowledge over those few days regarding hackers. It s only right that I provide that information to other parents- in the hope that they will be able to tell if their children are being drawn into the world of hacking. Perhaps other parents will be able to steer their sons back onto the straight and narrow before extreme measures need to be employed.

To this end- I have decided to publish the top ten signs that your son is a hacker. I advise any parents to read this list carefully and if their son matches the profile- they should take action. A smart parent will first try to reason with their son- before resorting to groundings- or even spanking. I pride myself that I have never had to spank a child- and I hope this guide will help other parents to put a halt to their son s misbehaviour before a spanking becomes necessary.

1. Has your son asked you to change ISPs?

Most American families use trusted and responsible Internet Service Providers- such as AOL. These providers have a strict "No Hacking" policy- and take careful measures to ensure that your internet experience is enjoyable- educational and above all legal. If your child is becoming a hacker- one of his first steps will be to request a change to a more hacker friendly provider.

I would advise all parents to refuse this request. One of the reasons your son is interested in switching providers is to get away from AOL s child safety filter. This filter is vital to any parent who wants his son to enjoy the internet without the endangering him through exposure to "adult" content. It is best to stick with the protection AOL provides- rather than using a home-based solution. If your son is becoming a hacker- he will be able to circumvent any home-based measures with surprising ease- using information gleaned from various hacker sites.

2. Are you finding programs on your computer that you don t remember installing?

Your son will probably try to install some hacker software. He may attempt to conceal the presence of the software in some way- but you can usually find any new programs by reading through the programs listed under "Install/Remove Programs" in your control panel. Popular hacker software includes "Comet Cursor"- "Bonzi Buddy" and "Flash".

The best option is to confront your son with the evidence- and force him to remove the offending programs. He will probably try to install the software again- but you will be able to tell that this is happening- if your machine offers to "download" one of the hacker applications. If this happens- it is time to give your son a stern talking to- and possibly consider punishing him with a grounding.

3. Has your child asked for new hardware?

Computer hackers are often limited by conventional computer hardware. They may request "faster" video cards- and larger hard drives- or even more memory. If your son starts requesting these devices- it is possible that he has a legitimate need. You can best ensure that you are buying legal- trustworthy hardware by only buying replacement parts from your computer s manufacturer.

If your son has requested a new "processor" from a company called "AMD"- this is genuine cause for alarm. AMD is a third-world based company who make inferior- "knock-off" copies of American processor chips. They use child labor extensively in their third world sweatshops- and they deliberately disable the security features that American processor makers- such as Intel- use to prevent hacking. AMD chips are never sold in stores- and you will most likely be told that you have to order them from internet sites. Do not buy this chip! This is one request that you must refuse your son- if you are to have any hope of raising him well.

4. Does your child read hacking manuals?

If you pay close attention to your son s reading habits- as I do- you will be able to determine a great deal about his opinions and hobbies. Children are at their most impressionable in the teenage years. Any father who has had a seventeen year old daughter attempt to sneak out on a date wearing make up and perfume is well aware of the effect that improper influences can have on inexperienced minds.

There are- unfortunately- many hacking manuals available in bookshops today. A few titles to be on the lookout for are: "Snow Crash" and "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson; "Neuromancer" by William Gibson; "Programming with Perl" by Timothy O Reilly; "Geeks" by Jon Katz; "The Hacker Crackdown" by Bruce Sterling; "Microserfs" by Douglas Coupland; "Hackers" by Steven Levy; and "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" by Eric S. Raymond.

If you find any of these hacking manuals in your child s possession- confiscate them immediately. You should also petition local booksellers to remove these titles from their shelves. You may meet with some resistance at first- but even booksellers have to bow to community pressure.

5. How much time does your child spend using the computer each day?

If your son spends more than thirty minutes each day on the computer- he may be using it to DOS other peoples sites. DOSing involves gaining access to the "command prompt" on other people s machines- and using it to tie up vital internet services. This can take up to eight hours. If your son is doing this- he is breaking the law- and you should stop him immediately. The safest policy is to limit your children s access to the computer to a maximum of forty-five minutes each day.

6. Does your son use Quake?

Quake is an online virtual reality used by hackers. It is a popular meeting place and training ground- where they discuss hacking and train in the use of various firearms. Many hackers develop anti-social tendencies due to the use of this virtual world- and it may cause erratic behaviour at home and at school.

If your son is using Quake- you should make hime understand that this is not acceptable to you. You should ensure all the firearms in your house are carefully locked away- and have trigger locks installed. You should also bring your concerns to the attention of his school.

7. Is your son becoming argumentative and surly in his social behaviour?

As a child enters the electronic world of hacking- he may become disaffected with the real world. He may lose the ability to control his actions- or judge the rightness or wrongness of a course of behaviour. This will manifest itself soonest in the way he treats others. Those whom he disagrees with will be met with scorn- bitterness- and even foul language. He may utter threats of violence of a real or electronic nature.

Even when confronted- your son will probably find it difficult to talk about this problem to you. He will probably claim that there is no problem- and that you are imagining things. He may tell you that it is you who has the problem- and you should "back off" and "stop smothering him." Do not allow yourself to be deceived. You are the only chance your son has- even if he doesn t understand the situation he is in. Keep trying to get through to him- no matter how much he retreats into himself.

8. Is your son obsessed with "Lunix"?

BSD- Lunix- Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system- invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos- before the Russians lost the Cold War. It is based on a program called "xenix"- which was written by Microsoft for the US government. These programs are used by hackers to break into other people s computer systems to steal credit card numbers. They may also be used to break into people s stereos to steal their music- using the "mp3" program. Torovoltos is a notorious hacker- responsible for writing many hacker programs- such as "telnet"- which is used by hackers to connect to machines on the internet without using a telephone.

Your son may try to install "lunix" on your hard drive. If he is careful- you may not notice its presence- however- lunix is a capricious beast- and if handled incorrectly- your son may damage your computer- and even break it completely by deleting Windows- at which point you will have to have your computer repaired by a professional.

If you see the word "LILO" during your windows startup (just after you turn the machine on)- your son has installed lunix. In order to get rid of it- you will have to send your computer back to the manufacturer- and have them fit a new hard drive. Lunix is extremely dangerous software- and cannot be removed without destroying part of your hard disk surface.

9. Has your son radically changed his appearance?

If your son has undergone a sudden change in his style of dress- you may have a hacker on your hands. Hackers tend to dress in bright- day-glo colors. They may wear baggy pants- bright colored shirts and spiky hair dyed in bright colors to match their clothes. They may take to carrying "glow-sticks" and some wear pacifiers around their necks. (I have no idea why they do this) There are many such hackers in schools today- and your son may have started to associate with them. If you notice that your son s group of friends includes people dressed like this- it is time to think about a severe curfew- to protect him from dangerous influences.

10. Is your son struggling academically?

If your son is failing courses in school- or performing poorly on sports teams- he may be involved in a hacking group- such as the infamous "Otaku" hacker association. Excessive time spent on the computer- communicating with his fellow hackers may cause temporary damage to the eyes and brain- from the electromagnetic radiation. This will cause his marks to slip dramatically- particularly in difficult subjects such as Math- and Chemistry. In extreme cases- over-exposure to computer radiation can cause schizophrenia- meningitis and other psychological diseases. Also- the reduction in exercise may cause him to lose muscle mass- and even to start gaining weight. For the sake of your child s mental and physical health- you must put a stop to his hacking- and limit his computer time drastically.

I encourage all parents to read through this guide carefully. Your child s future may depend upon it. Hacking is an illegal and dangerous activity- that may land your child in prison- and tear your family apart. It cannot be taken too seriously.

I have the DCR-TRV350 NTSC Sony Camcorder and I am brand new at trying to upload videos to the computer to make a DVD. I don t have a FireWire- so I am trying to hook it up to the USB. I downloaded a driver for XP from the Sony website (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=DCRTRV350&upd_id=1452&os_id=7&ULA=YES) and ran setup after extracting it. I then restarted my computer like it said but still nothing s happening after I plug in my camcorcer and turn it on to VCR mode.

A few years ago- my parents bought me a PC- and I got bitten by the learning bug. I started by using a "hooky" version of Frontpage to design my own website- then learnt HTML from experimenting with the HTML tab on Frontpage- then realising HTML doesn t do interactive- taught myself Perl- then finding out PHP did stuff with pictures too- switched to PHP.

Then one day- I got a magazine with a version of Visual Basic on the cover (it was called learning edition then- it s express edition now) and I started to write standalone programs - then I got a version of Delphi the same way- and switched to that- then a version of C++ builder.

In an online programming tutorial- I came across a word in an unfamiliar context- differentiate- and ended up teaching myself calculus. I also figured out in a school lesson that a non-right angled triangle could be split into two right angled triangles and worked out the cosine rule myself.
In a physics lesson- they explained the basics of nuclear reactions- and it struck me that if knocking a neutron out of an atom released energy and reduced the mass of the component parts to less than the mass of the original atom- then there was more going on than we were being told- so I taught myself atomic structure to the standard of electron configuations like 1s²2s²2p³ etc and the internal structure of baryons- then progressed to topics such as slightly more advanced particle physics and parts of quantum theory/mechanics (schrodinger- quantum electrodynamics- quantum chromodynamics etc). Regularly realising my maths was letting me down big time- I d put it on hold to go teach myself something else about maths.
I generally didn t talk about being a swot at home when at school- but that changed recently because it really pissed me off that we were being given watered down information- eg a ¹²C atom consists of 6 Protons and 6 Neutrons with an electron configuration of 2.4 - electrons- protons and neutrons being the smallest you can go. I argued with the teacher that "2.4" was a watered down explanation- and that the nucleons shouldn t be considered as distinct- inseparable entities- but rather as baryons with one of the three quarks being a different flavour. In maths- we were shown that we could estimate the gradient of a curve by drawing a tangent to it- using y=x² as the example. I told the teacher that was a crap way to do it because it was only as accurate as the guessed tangent. Thinking he was being a smartarse he gave me the chalk and announced "Miss O Neill thinks she knows better than me- so she ll take over the lesson now." I got up and differentiated x² from first principles.
Without telling me they were going to do it in advance- they withdrew me from lessons for 2 days- and gave me a set of the exams you take at 16- then the ones you take at 18. I got top grades in Computing- Electronics and Physics- my knowledge of the content of the Chemistry syllabus was lacking in a lot of areas- and in maths I was lacking only with imaginary/complex numbers. They got my parents to come to school for a parent-pupil-teacher conference (which had me thinking I was in trouble) and said that if I had taken the same physics- computing & electronics exams in the Leaving Cert at 18- I d have no trouble getting a top university place. The suggestion was that since you can t take the leaving cert exams without being enrolled on the course for at least 2 years- I take the British equivalent- A levels- as an international student in the November "resits" and apply to university as soon as the application process opens up for next years intake.
My parents really want me to do it- and I really don t want to be spending the next 5 years learning stuff I already know- but as I am now- I enjoy things. On a Saturday- I can go "earring shopping" with my friends- we can take in a film- go bowling etc. If I go to university- at least I ll find the work more challenging- but I ll be the baby. The only one who is too young to go for a drink- the only one who is living with their parents- the only one too young to form a relationship- the only one who can t drive etc. It also means that unless I get into the local Institute of Technology- we will have to move home which will mean my dad will have a huge commute to work every day. It is a sacrifice he is prepared to make- but I m not sure it as one I d be prepared to have him make for my benefit.

how to write it correctly with Perl ?!

I m trying to identify lines in a text file that have the word "light" appearing at least twice.

For example- Gen 1:3 has:

The PCRE newbie is stumped at how to specify that with the { } syntax. I can get it to work with:
light.+light
but I want to understand how to use {2-}

I ve used boost::regex- and I think the following would have worked:
(light){2-}

but this doesn t seem to work (at least for me) with PCRE.

And actually- what I m trying to accomplish is finding a line with either "light" or "evening" appearing twice ... but not either "light" or "evening" each appearing. An example is 2 Chron 13:11 with "evening" appearing twice.

I know zip encryption is a joke. Someone else is encrypting it. I only need to decrypt it. Thing is- if I extract it using the `unzip` command from infozip- it will insist to use the filenames from the archive; which is not at all what I want.

Yes- they are athletes- that much is true. But aren t they celebrities as well? A celebrity can be anyone that is well known- not just an actor or actress and they do not have to be of Hollywood fame either :)

I m starting on a web-interfaced database project soon. I have no idea how to choose a language. Should I just let my project lead choose whatever they like or is there more to it? Early on- I ll have about 50 users a day- but plan to have maybe 500 at a time. I do not want to pay gobs of money down the road to convert the db while its live. Talk to me like I m a total noob; I recognize this may be a critical decision.
Think of it as a reverse auction site. I will want to archive consumer and producer data for use later- but the primary function is for producers to perform live searches and post bids.

I should have said that I m a noob about programming- not working with folks. I listen- take suggestions- and understand changes have a cost. BTW $30/h is cheap compared to a broke accountant.

Her and I just made a move about 8 days ago. She ate nine days ago. She is a good 8 feet long and is pretty regular. She hasnt gone yet. Bones came out- but nothing else. She has me a little worried.

I bought a ZooMeds heating pad for my ball python and it says placing it on the wall of the tank is better than the bottom when you have a dresser under the tank (which I do).
It s approaching summer- so do I really need to worry about where the heat pad is? Can t the light accomplish the same thing? My room gets relatively hot in summer.

I got a 20L tank for him today (he s a baby) and a pretty big hiding spot and a pretty big water dish.
There isn t much room between the water dish and hiding place- so I stuck the heating pad on the glass next to the hiding place- and put the lamp in the empty space between the dish and hiding place.
Is that ok- because the heating pad and lamp s instructions said not to place them over the water dish.

hi i recently have gained an interest for african rock pythons and indian pythons- i have experience with multiple large snakes so care wont be a problem however-

what humidity do both require?
what size tanks do they require?
what food can they eat when fully grown? goats??
what is the maximum size they could reach?

Hello- I am a 14 year old boy who has played World of Warcraft for the past two years.
My parents have taken away this game a few months ago- and I have been wanting to play this game again.
Here are my reasons for wanting to play.

1. Cheap Entertainment (much less than going to the movies every weekend)
2. Playing with friends. (all but one of my friends play)
3. Learning life skills. (yes- much to opposite belief- World of Warcraft teaches many life skills such as self awareness- strategies- problem solving- etc)
4. Boredom. Here was my day today: Wake up- go to school- come home- program on the computer (yes- I program with C++- Python and GML)- go on a hike- eat dinner- and here I am. Most teenagers have no idea what programming is. I started when I was ten years old.

She s been loose for about a month now... I ve looked all through my room except my bed because there s only a few inches of space (drawers/bookshelve bed) underneath. I think I would have seen her making her way across the floor by now. I m worried that my dogs or cats could have killed her in which case i m going to be devastated. I ve programmed in quite a few languages: Java- C/C++- C#- prolog- lisp- python- VB6.

My main languages being Java and C# since the syntax is very similar. I ve programmed in Java for about 3 years- and C# for only a year.

I ve just completed my junior year at a university pursuing a Computer Science degree. I would like to do programming. As of right now I feel like "i m a jack of all trades- master of none" so to speak with my languages.

Should I work on improving my skill in Java- like my Java GUI programming needs some work. Or should I continue learning C/C++ since I only know that basics of it?

i have a 17ft granite burmese python female- she usually eats either one large rat or a rabbit every 10 days but i was wondering if it would be safe to breed duck kill them when they reach adulthood and feed them to my snake or would it be unsafe and the ducks be diseased even if they hav never left the barn. i currently have 7 females ducks in their but i might get 2 males if it is safe to breed them as snake food
im trying to find different sources of food that arent wild caught so i dont have to check them over before i feed. also i am not bothered about any cost as the only eat very little and i have planty of soggy bread and worms etc. that they will happily eat

Elaine...there were so many stairs(like 5-10 ft long) floating- along with many wreckages of shrimpboats and houses- it was incredible. People build thei houses high- on pilings...same with trailers. High stairs!

i have a friend who s wife is looking at either selling or trading in her 1998 BMW 323is... my brother is looking for his first car. I was thinking of helping him buy it from her. It has 160-000 miles on it and needs a new air conditioning. Everything mechanical is in very good order. Cosmetically- there are a couple things which could be done to it to bring it back to good condition... mostly the leather seats. She is offering it to me for $1500-2000. I know BMW s are known to last practically forever. Maintenance is up to date... she has the records to prove it as well as the receipts for the new items she put on the car.. struts- bushing- tires- etc. Obviously- we would like him to have the care up until he finishes his degree of choice which would be...roughly 6 years from now. Should we go with something newer or at least not as old or does this sound like a pretty good deal for him?

I have a 1997 Mercury Sable- sedan and the gap between the tire and the fender is bigger on the front than it is in the back- and I don t know what is causing that- recently I changed the Struts itselves but that did not fix the problem.

outer tie rod ends- & radious arm bushings. Took car back cause it was still cluncking. They then replaced trac struts- & tower supports. On the way home the car was vibrating very bad- now they rebuild the drive shaft. I took the car back cause I still had vibration under my feet- stearing wheel- my seat- acceleration was very rough- & while sitting at a light the car would get a loud humming sound that hurt the ears. So they re-balanced the drive shaft and told me the car was running very smooth now. I picked up the car & it was the same. I went back again- this time the acceleration is much smoother but when I let off the gas I get very bad vibration until it gets to 25mph & lower- sitting at lights I still get loud vibration- & now when I push down on the brake to put the car in gear the gear shift clicks- & the brake makes a popping sound. Every time I pick up the car theres a new problem- another week at the shop. Any ideas on what to look for next- $3000.00 into it why stop now.

On my way to work this morning- I was turning to go down a clover leaf off ramp as I do every day. My steering wheel locked up so I couldn t turn it and I believe my brakes stopped working too (it all happened quite fast). I was only going about 10MPH but with the angle my car slid into the curb- it damaged my rim and tires and pushed my wheel into the panel and bent the frame. The roads were wet and it was sprinkling
I haven t gotten the quote yet but the adjuster said that it appears to have damaged my lower control arm on the suspension- the strut- wheel- tire and front panel.
The thing I m most worried about is the cause of the lock up. What would cause the car to lock up and will the car place be able to find this problem and fix it? I am just leary that they will only fix the things mentioned and not try to find the problem and that I will have another accident.
Please give me any advice or questions I should ask the mechanic shop. I m a girl and don t know much about cars
Its a 2005 Mazda3 and I have not had any problems at all. Tires are good with good tread.
Thanks everyone so far. To clarify- no gauges/lights or anything came on. The car didn t stop at all except that the tire wedged into the car made it impossible to move. I started the car a few times with out any problem. Once we got to the auto shop the tow guy mentioned that the hazard lights would not turn off and the battery was now dieing. Hopefully this is something they will investigate

So I was putting the lower control arm back on my car and to help I used a jackstand and soft piece of wood under the rotor to compress the strut- I also used my legs to push on the caliper to move it around and get it to line up with the Lower control arm. I know I probably shouldn t have done it this way but I did and my question is do you think it could hurt anything to jack the car up by the rotor? The rotor actually has a very slight amount of wobble in it but I think that goes away when the lug nuts are put on and tightened down.

An old farmer decided it was time to get a new rooster for his hens. The current rooster was still doing an okay job- but he was getting on in years. And the farmer figured getting a new rooster couldn t hurt anything. So he buys a young cock from the local rooster emporium- and turns him loose in the barnyard.

Well- the old rooster sees the young one strutting around and he gets a little worried. So- they re trying to replace me- thinks the old rooster. I ve got to do something about this. He walks up to the new bird and says- "So you re the new stud in town? I bet you really think you re hot stuff- don t you? Well- I m not ready for the chopping block yet. I ll bet I m still the better bird. And to prove it- I challenge you to a race around that hen house over there. We ll run around it ten times and whoever finish s first gets to have all the hens for himself."
Well- the young rooster was a proud sort- and he definitely thought he was more than a match for the old guy. "You re on-" said the young rooster. "And since I know I m so great- I ll even give you a head start of half a lap. I ll still win easy-" said the young rooster.

So the two roosters go over to the hen house to start the race with all the hens gathering around to watch. The race begins and all the hens start cheering the roosters on. After the first lap- the old rooster is still maintaining his lead. After the second lap- the old guy s lead has slipped a little but he s still hanging in there. Unfortunately the old rooster s lead continues to slip each time around- and by the fifth lap he s just barely in front of the young rooster.

By now the farmer has heard all the commotion. He runs into the house- gets his shotgun- and runs out to the barnyard figuring a fox or something is after his chickens. When he gets there- he sees the two roosters running around the hen house
with the old rooster still slightly in the lead. He immediately takes his shotgun- aims- fires- and blows the young rooster away.

Everybody says if you use lowering springs on stock struts it will kill them- honestly how bad is it? I don t have money for coilovers or sport struts- and I know theres gona be rich kids on here saying "save up for a nice set of coilovers" no matter what I say. The fact that I have to save up for them probably means I need 900 dollars for something more important than coilovers if I didn t have that kind of money to throw away to begin with. So tell me honestly how bad it will really be?

i have a 87 camaro that i m going to put Hobbyist plates on it- I m giving it a new make over. New paint job and engine. But if I replace the 2.8 multi port fuel injection with a 350 High Output Deluxe engine- do I have to replace the tranny and rear end. I already know that I have to replace the shocks and struts. I want to get rid of the 135 hp engine and replace it with the 330 hp engine. And before you ask- this engine is a crate engine. The 350 HO Deluxe is complete when it comes.

On my 2001 Ford Windstar Lx..when i turn at low speeds ..the car makes a terrible sound (what sounds like an old wooden boat creaking) and clunks..i ve been told it could be the cv joints..but now i hear it could be the struts..stabilizer bar..and a whole number of things..every mechanic i take the car to is not sure..and i don t want to spend thousands of dollars worth of stuff on this car that i dont have to fix the problem.. i ve been told the engine mounts are bad..could this be the cause?

She won t give me the time of day- even. Doesn t she know what I want to do to her? Why doesn t she care?

When I look at my car from behind- it s leaning towards the drivers side...almost as if the rear-drivers side tire was flat- but the tire is not flat and all tires have the correct pressure. I checked the tire sizes and both back tires are the same and correct size. The car rides fine and doesn t make any strange sounds.
The shocks/struts don t make any noises. I m just wondering if there is anything else I can check myself before I have to take it to a shop and have someone look at it. Thanks!

Ive changed brakes- rotors- and that kind of thing- so was wondering how hard it would be to change the struts my self.

I had my rear struts changed a few months ago- probably 6 months ago. But my car is still taking bumps EXTREAMLY hard- and I m not sure what the problem could be since I had already changed the struts. It s almost like a bang noise anytime I go over a big bump (which I do try to avoid) but sometimes I cant. Any ideas? Could it just be because she s a small car and takes bumps hard?

I am assuming That one or both of the axles came out and was aligned correctly wheen it was pushed back in ??

My daughter purchase a car around 1/29/08- the car has a bad transmisson- it needs all new brakes- new rotors- struts- plus the check engine lights has been coming on since 2 weeks after she purchas the car.
The check engine lights- after 3 visit for this- they still do not know what is wrong- and now want to charge her $250 to look at it- plus they say the brakes - rotors struts were fine when she purchase the car. Which our car repair person- said there is now way there were good at purchase time.

Two weeks ago I took my Honda Accord to the dealership for 40 pt. inspection. All looked good except tires needed to be rotated. Last weekend took car to Monroe Muffler for oil change and have tires rotated. They said front right strut was leaking- other struts looked poor. Said it won t pass inspection (which will need to be done in July). Wouldn t Honda have seen this in their inspection? What should I do? The car is 6 years old- only has 43-000 miles on it. Thanks!

I have a kind size Victorian style metal bed with a central metal strut with 2 extra legs down the middle. Because of a lot of action (not what you think!) the middle strut has twisted and the legs bent. I tried to bend it all back but it just keeps happening and this causes all the wooden slats to pop out of their holders and the mattress fall down.
Do you think there s a way to repair it properly or should I just cut my losses...it s only 2.5 years old.

I recently had to avoid an accident on an interstate near my house as I was exiting- but in doing so- I hit a curb with my right front wheel going about 40-50 miles an hour. The wheel its self actually broke in one place. I have been to one repair shop to install a replacement wheel that matches all the others- rotate and balance tires- and do front end alignment. They aligned it to the best of their abilities- but they said something- not obvious to the eye- is bent- because my camber angle is still 2.5 degrees off- and that is after they were able to bring it back in .5 degrees. They were not able to do any more- but i was wondering what some possible costs are for repairing possible bent frame- strut- so forth that could be causing the camber issue and the constant slight pull to the right in steering.

i have a 96 honda civic dx coupe. i bought it used and the previous owner put dropped suspension on it- not cut springs- aftermarket springs and struts.

however the ride is very harsh. after every bump- the car bounces. its like the damping on the strut is not working very well. i wanted to know if there is anything i can do to fix this. perhaps softer springs?
i dont want stock. i like the agressive look of the dropped suspension- plus doesnt it give better cornering?

Every time I get in my car the rear drivers side makes this awful squeaking/metal against metal sound. It also does this if I hit a bump or pothole. I try to avoid them but it does this even on the smallest bump. When I hear it with my windows up- the sound is equivalent to the sound of a car antenna being hit back and forth. I thought it was my struts but it does not bounce any more than it should and handles well.

I need help walking properly (silly as it seems) I m a 17 yr. old guy- healthy- masculine. A friend at church taught me how to strut (a cool walk- to move your shoulders more than you should.) I have a 94 Dodge Caravan with 169k miles. The front-left drive-axle has been replaced 3 times in two months- because the inner CV joint is pulling apart. I have since found that the transmission mount is worn completely down about 2” to the metal bracket. It is attached directly above the CV joint that is pulling apart. Can this cause the inner CV joint to pull apart? Is there any engine alignment procedure after replacing transmission/motor mounts? Is there any other worn components that may be putting stress on the axle joint? Such as: control arm bushing- pitman arm- strut/tower- ball joints- tie rod- etc.

I would like to know how I could preload video files onto my webpage so that when I play them- they would take a shorter time buffering. I don t have much flash software- but I m using DreamWeaver 4 to make the pages. Also- I use mp4- flv- and wmv video files- but if you could show me a way to preload any video file please let me know how and what type of file I would have to use in order to preload it. I understand why b would be 15- but I m confused as to why a is equal to 18. When i=0- a = 15. When the loop stops at i=4- wouldn t the value of a be 19 instead of 18?

I m entering my senior year of aerospace engineering and the programming requirements in terms of numerical processing time are increasing rapidly. My question is whether or not is worth while to learn C++ or C# for this numerical simulations and calculations. I have a solid background in web scripting(javascript- vb- asp- php- etc) and very solid in MATLAB programming but am looking for something a little....quicker in terms of calculation time.

Its not my server that I m sending the request to. I found an Cross Site Request Forgery vulnerability in a website and I tried to tell the admin but he wont do anything about it until i "prove its a danger" and it sounds like a fun challenge to me anyways. So I made a similar html form to what I posted- so that anyone who see s the image I post will make a new thread- or whatever I want. BUT they don t except requests like that with a different referer. So I would like to some how spoof the referer- thats why I asked if any one could help me send that POST request in php since its very easy to control the headers from php and telling the application it came from there own website will not be an issue. But Im completely lost on how to send that same request in php with a spoofed referer. Any Idea s how I can pull that off?

I am building a website for the first time and I have been successful working with the html and css. My husband said he was going to get me a nice"rock" for our wedding anniversary. My wedding ring is about a 0.30 carat round diamond with 2 baquette rubies on each side of the diamond setting. If when you were married- you couldnt afford the size of diamond almost every woman would love to own- and down the road your husband would like to get you something nice- would you:

A) Replace the smaller diamond you currently have and re-set your wedding band with a larger diamond or-

B) Get a second ring all together? If so- would you wear it on the left hand/finger as your first or on the right hand?

Now keep in mind- my ring is an antique- the band is raised in several areas and the setting is old. The diamond may be rather old. If it was a ring from the store (plain band- etc.) but smaller diamond- would you replace the first diamond?

I m in florida- I can t seem to find anyone who can remove a largle colorful fairy tattoo that I have on my back.
